FEETON GIVES NEW DIMENSION TO GOALKEEPER TRAINING

Every child deserves a fun and educational football training session. This applies to outfield players, but just as much to goalkeepers. That's why feeton has used the successful formula of their online training platform for footballers to develop a unique and very comprehensive training program specifically for goalkeepers. None other than former professional footballer and goalkeeper coach Harmen Kuperus has compiled all his knowledge, techniques, and experiences into the module. With feeton, goalkeepers also get the attention they deserve.

Goalkeeper Training Developed by Harmen Kuperus

Harmen Kuperus has distinguished himself as a goalkeeper coach over the past sixteen years. He trained the first teams of clubs such as Go Ahead Eagles, SC Heerenveen, Mechelen, Leuven, and FC Groningen, where he guided goalkeepers like Andries Noppert, Jay Gorter, Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Michael Verrips, Stephan Andersen, Eloy Room, and Erwin Mulder to their top level. In addition to his recent contribution as the goalkeeper coach of the Suriname national team, Harmen has been involved in the development of the feeton goalkeeper module since 2017.

According to him, good goalkeeper training consists of more than just training. “It's not just a matter of running the training session. During and after the training, you also need to look closely as a coach to see if there is any difference compared to last week, how the goalkeepers come onto the field, and if they are having fun. You can get a lot out of that. If you don't pay attention to these aspects and are not passionately engaged, you can never really make goalkeepers better. You need to find the right mix of structure, clarity, and turning fun into improvement,” explains Harmen.

More Variety, More Fun

Together with the owners of feeton, Harmen has been busy developing the module over the past few years. Just like with the other modules, a foundation has been laid based on age-specific objectives. “We have also developed a curriculum for goalkeepers. With this continuous learning pathway, a club knows that the training sessions are well-organized. Every coach, whether a volunteer or not, knows thanks to our training platform what needs to happen during each training session. They have the assurance that everything will be trained according to the correct structure by the end of the year, without it becoming boring or repetitive, but always with a clear line and structure,” explains Richard Elsinga, CEO of feeton.

Synergy on the Field

The beauty of the goalkeeper module is that the objectives run parallel with the objectives of the outfield players. “Even though they train separately, because they are in the same age category and both modules have age-specific objectives, the techniques they learn complement each other perfectly on the field. As a result, goalkeepers are no longer the neglected members of the club,” says Harmen.

Optimal Results Through Online Workshops

Every child who wants to be a goalkeeper should also be inspired by goalkeeping, according to Richard. “Training sessions need to be well-organized at the club. This brings joy to both the players and the coaches. To help clubs working with the feeton methodology, we offer a webinar with Harmen twice a year. Think of it as an online workshop where coaches are taught how to get the most out of our platform.”

Assurance of Quality Training

With the new module, feeton aims to make a significant impact and make football training more enjoyable and educational. “We want to inspire coaches, showing them that there are 350 more exercises they can apply beyond a single drill. Doing random drills due to lack of inspiration or knowledge is no longer an option when a club works with feeton. With our platform, they have a beautifully structured program where everything comes together. And that brings happiness,” says Richard.
